Our Organization

College Visitation Charities began officially in 2021 as a conscious, independent outcropping and special constitutionally compliant jurisdiction of CECAAL College Tours (a/k/a CECAAL). Both organizations were founded by cleric, Rev. Nelson E. Copeland, Jr., who established College Visitation Charities to be both the organizational successor, and the apparent heir organization to the mother program, CECAAL, which was founded in 1990 and has begun “sunsetting” many of its services. In other words, CECAAL is retiring and is passing on its legacy through the founding and establishment of College Visitation Charities.

Our organization serves as, what Rev. Copeland prays is, his lasting accomplishment highlighting over five decades of assisting more than 8,500 young people, adults, educators, and students through grassroots efforts, primarily within the United States and now tangentially worldwide.

We advocate that knowledge and education are vital components to the dignity of humanity; serving as key humanitarian values found deep within the cores of those who are led to improve the lives of young people through global altruism and travel-learning experiences. Our founders have elevated five core conscientious principles which form the philosophical foundation of the educational and humanitarian policies of our organization, and they are to:

  1. Live Heroically – Be kind, brave, and confident, displaying deep concern for others.
  2. Cherish Others – Expressing empathy and understanding to others as much as you would want the same.
  3. Show Curiosity – Ask questions and pursue knowledge—which can never be taken away from you.
  4. Be Reliable – Fulfill your responsibilities so that the beneficiaries of your charity never doubt they received your best efforts
  5. Empower Others – Seek to encourage all people, especially those considered the least of us and marginalized most.

Message from the President

I help young people so they can develop into the great human beings they were Created to Be. However, for some their life conditions may have blinded them to see their full potential. In other words, I try to see in them what they do not yet see in themselves--Excellent, Awesome and Divine.
Rev. Nelson Copeland

Our Motto

Our motto is encapsulated in a two-word motivational phrase: “Evolve Heroically.”

Thus, establishing the standard by which our participants, staff, and volunteers are to dedicate their services, as well as the standard by which to measure themselves and others while in our programs.

Core Values

OUR MISSION

Our long-term mission is to help enrich the learning experience of at least one child on every continent through educational travel-learning programs, organizations, and agencies. To accomplish our mission, we must be willing to actively “live out our moniker of College Visitation Charities;” serving as an educationally focused nonprofit organization (NPO), which also identifies as a humanitarian, non-partisan, and non-governmental organization (NGO), principally providing charitable scholastic services, locally and globally.

OUR VISION

Our vision is an open-minded dedication to global altruism and educational humanitarianism distilled through a variety of travel-learning experiences.

OUR PURPOSE

Our purpose is to increase college visitations and improve college preparation, locally and globally, by utilizing travel-learning experiences as educational tools that serve as catalysts of dignity, hope, and human social progress. To do this efficiently, participants and leadership must be prepared to participate in one or more of the following travel-learning actions:

EduVisitation

EduVisitation (i.e., in-person and on-location educational travel-learning)

EduPortation

EduPortation (i.e., online—virtual/digital educational travel-learning)

EduHumanitarianism

EduHumanitartianism (i.e., creating in-person and virtual cross-cultural educational travel-learning programs, partnerships, initiatives, conversations, and causes that recognize the freedom to learn more as an integral component of individual human dignity and is an essential right in fairer-leaning societies).
